  On Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, Parkland's running back Austin Scott held a press conference and verbally committed to Penn State. During the conference, he was in telephone contact with coach Joe Paterno and offensive coach Fran Gantner.

He is pictured here at the table talking to coach Paterno with his aunt sitting next to him. On the left at the table is his head coach, Rob Melosky. Standing to his right is the principal of Parkland High School and his former coach, Rich Sniscak. Standing in the background is the athletic director, Mike Dobil.
